Colorado Hunting At Its Finest !

Box T Cowboys, located on the historic 87,000 acre Chico Basin Ranch is a premier game preserve that offers an experience beyond hunting and fishing that takes you into the heart of prisitne wild Colorado.  Because it is located in the middle of a modern day working cattle operation, it provides opportunities to spend time in a pristine setting enjoying a vast landscape that incorporates tranquility, privacy and the romance of a ranch.  Our programs are diversified and include multiple activities for the family as well as the dedicated sportsman.  Our hunts are centered around released upland game birds, but also includes vast wild scaled quail populations, big game opportunities, predator hunts, clay target games, waterfowl hunting and overnight amenities.  Fishing is a cornerstone part of our program and has been described by local guides as the best warm water fisheries on Colorado’s Front Range.

The 87,000 acre historic working ranch is one of Colorado’s largest cattle ranches. Its rich cultural history dates back to the late 1800’s, when it was part of the Charles Goodnight rangeland, forger of the Goodnight-Loving Trail.  At its core, is a high conservation ethic which comes before all else.  The ranch combines traditional, time-honored methods like working horseback with modern range management techniques that sustain the ranch’s natural resources and economic viability.  Here, in a setting of spectacular scenic beauty, traditional cowboying goes hand in hand with modern philosophies of conservation.  Sustainable ranching practices respect the ecosystem, while ongoing education programs work to preserve the ranch’s rich diversity of wildlife and fauna.

Our mission is to create a working ranching model that views the ranch as an ecological resource base, using cattle as an important tool to manipulate the surface of the ground to achieve conservation goals. This base supports a complementary mix of enterprises that emphasize sustainability, innovative management, and diversification as the keys to economic and ecological viability.
